A guide to Minnesota Student-Learners in Manufacturing

In response to feedback received from the PIPELINE Project Advanced Manufacturing employers, a new guide was developed for Minnesota Student-Learners in Manufacturing. The document provides specific guidelines for the work activities and learning parameters for 16- and 17-year-olds involved in a manufacturing training program and employed as a worker.

Dream It. Do It. Student Video Contest

Fifteen teams of students from seven schools submitted videos for the second Dream It. Do It. Minnesota “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” video contest. Voting to determine the Viewers’ Choice Award takes place April 17-30, 2017. Award winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony in Fergus Falls on May 2, 2017.

PaperCon 2017 coming to Minnesota

The annual PaperCon Conference and Expo is coming to Minnesota this year, April 24-26, 2017 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Designed by industry professionals, PaperCon is the largest conference and expo in North America for the paper industry. PaperCon is the only place where the entire industry gathers to do business – mill managers, production superintendents, CEOs, engineers, scientists and students – and the show encompasses all segments involved in papermaking and coating. The event features a comprehensive technical program, a packed exhibit floor, new technology, and many networking opportunities.


School of Trade Technologies Job Fair at MCTC

Minneapolis Community & Technical College hosted a successful job fair on April 4, 2017!

Over 48 students found leads for careers in welding, machine tool technologies, and related fields at the School of Trade Technologies Job Fair, and employers were happy with student turnout.

According to Minnesota State CAREERwise Education, the latest Job Vacancy Survey from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) continues to show a strong and stable labor market. During the most recent survey there were about 1.2 unemployed people for each statewide vacancy. To learn more about job vacancies in Minnesota read the key findings.
