MnSCU Two-Year Occupational Grant Pilot Program

Attention Class of 2016: You can now apply for a grant to cover tuition for manufacturing programs at MnAMP colleges! 

The MnSCU Two-Year Occupational Grant Pilot Program provides financial assistance to students enrolled in qualifying career and technical programs at MnSCU two-year colleges so that students can complete the program within two years or less and find employment in a high-demand occupation. It will be implemented for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 academic years as a pilot program. The grant will cover any remaining tuition and general fee charges after the student's Federal Pell Grant and MN State Grant have been applied to the student's account.

College GrantSome highlights of the grant include:

  • Tuition and fees paid (after Pell & MN State Grants)
  • Available for 2016 HS/GED grads in MN who will enroll in a 2-year college in Fall 2016
  • Family income can be up to $90k
  • Assigned a mentor
  • Complete regular FAFSA to apply

Enterprise Minnesota recently released their 2016 State of Manufacturing report. As part of the release they conduct a “Road Show” around the state. A new article from Enterprise Minnesota Magazine explores the skills gap from the perspective of the next generation of manufacturing workers. The State of Manufacturing® focus group research included three meetings with students at tech schools, including Dunwoody College of Technology, Alexandria Technical & Community College, and Anoka Technical College.

Medical Devices a Big Deal in Minnesota

A new article from Site Selection Magazine discusses Minnesota's medical device manufacturing industry, the $25-billion deal announced this week, and the launch of the Minnesota Medical Manufacturing Partnership - a strategy to further strengthen the area's ecosystem for medical manufacturing and "globally brand Minnesota's medical and life sciences cluster."
